Sports Medicine

The physicians and surgeons of ASMC have fellowship training in sports medicine. They provide surgical care of sports injuries when necessary, but also focus on nonsurgical treatments of sports-related injuries, including sprains, strains, overuse injuries, tendonitis, and fractures. Other sports-related services include sports physicals, care for athletes with exercise-induced asthma, and health maintenance and wellness.

Caring for athletes of all ages and ability levels, from Pop Warner to the Pros, we use a team approach, utilizing physical therapy and imaging technology. Combined with our training and experience, we will help you return to your sport as soon as possible.

Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Waslewski and Dr. Freedberg provide the highest quality of orthopedic care. They are board certified orthopedic surgeons and have advanced fellowship training in sports medicine. They were both trained by nationally renowned surgeons James R. Andrews, MD, and William G. Clancy, MD, at the American Sports Medicine Institute. Drs. Waslewski and Freedberg specialize in the following orthopedic problems.

Shoulder: Rotator cuff tears, labral tears, shoulder stabilization, arthroscopy for arthritis

Hip: Total hip arthroplasy, arthroscopy for labral cartilage tears and arthritis

Elbow: Tommy John surgery for ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, arthroscopy for arthritis or spurs.

Ankle: Ligament reconstruction, tendon tears, arthroscopy for arthritis and spurs

Family Medicine

Dr. Peterson and Dr. Dean are board certified family physicians. Both doctors trained at the prestigious Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale. They provide comprehensive medical care for ages 12 through the elderly, diagnosing illness and treating acute and chronic medical conditions. They also perform preoperative examinations and provide preventive medical services to promote health and wellness. They treat skin conditions and perform office-based surgical procedures, such as biopsies and laceration repairs. They specialize in family medicine and sports medicine and are proud to care for athletes and their families.

Orthotripsy

ASMC is proud to provide services for this exciting technology. Using high energy shock waves first designed to break up and treat kidney stones, the orthopedic indications of orthotripsy include treatment of chronic plantar fasciitis (heel spurs) and lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow). This non-invasive procedure allows for fewer complications than traditional surgery with a much quicker healing time and return to daily life and sport. Dr. Peterson is certified and experienced with orthotripsy, using Ossatron technology.

InnerVue

Technology at the tip of a needle, InnerVue allows for diagnostic arthroscopy in an office setting with fewer of the risks and complications of surgery. Dr. Waslewski and Dr. Freedberg have experience with this exciting technology and perform this minimally invasive arthroscopy in the procedure room at the Scottsdale office of ASMC.
